"I've been using HG for a while now, 4 years and I would never use anyone else. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine owns his own hosting site and said I could use his for free, but I declined and stayed with HG! Their support is amazing, friendly, and never make you feel "stupid" like some others. Even their forum members are EXTREMELY helpful when it comes to learning the ins and outs of this CPanel and hosting stuff. I have no complaints at all. Addt'l Info: I'm on a shared server, using the "baby" plan, paying monthly. "

"I have been with HostGator for about a year and I can say that their support is outstanding, quick answers with intelligent responses. Needless to say I have had to contact them on a several occasions and I have never been kept waiting. So when the hosting provider of our company website, uh disappeared (that's the only way to describe it since we attempted calling them for weeks) I recommended HostGator to my boss and we went forward. The techs at HostGator walked me through what to do so as to make our transition as painless as possible. I would STRONGLY recommend HostGator to anyone that is setting up a website."

"Excellent webhosting company, uptime 100%, fast support team, fast servers, Cpanel, price is higher than other companies, but because they are EXCELLENT. I would mention that they are rigid on system resources usage .. so if your site is big they may suspend your account like what happened with me. I'm thinking to move to their dedicated servers now."

"Yeah, Hostgator sucks. They suspended my hosting account for no reason at all and then tried to get me to send them copies of my personal documents such as passport, ID and a copy of the credit card I used to sign up. I have requested a refund from them and if they refuse to issue it, I will chargeback. If you’ve had a problem with them just call your bank and dispute the charges. "

"I've hosted with a few other hosts before, and I've compared the prices and hostgator has good pricing and I've never had problems with uptime, but if you are late on payment you basically get screwed if you continue to go through them after being late, just a heads up to anyone considering hostgator. I was late on payment the other day, so they suspended my account. You don't pay for the previous month's hosting with them, you pay in advance. So to use my website this month, I would have to pay them in advance, or they shut it off before it gets into this month's hosting. So I made payment, and a few days go by and my website was still turned off. They made at least $120 from my traffic this past weekend (they put up a parked page when they suspend you until you change your DNS). They told me that to turn it back on, they would charge me a late fee of $10. I asked the guy "why would you charge me $10 when I don't owe you anything, I'm paying for this month's service, I'm paying to have it turned back on, not to settle a debt or anything that I already owe?". He said that as long as I use the same email address, I would have to pay the late fee. So if I leave hostgator, then sign up for hostgator hosting again, with a different email address, I would avoid the "late fee". So basically hostgator already made over $120 off me this past weekend, and now they charged me a late fee for choosing to continue to go through them (I have to get my hosting activated again so I can get to all my files and move them to a new host). So just to let you know, hostgator is garbage. I've been hosting with hostmysite.com for about a year now with other websites of mine and although they are a little more expensive and you get less space etc., it's well worth the price because they haven't done anything sheisty like this with me yet."

"I generally like Host Gator, so I bought a reseller account. When I started moving websites I needed ssh/ftp access. Since I had used Host Gator for other sites already (but not as a reseller) I knew that ssh access was available, although you have to request it. Turns out they charge $10 to add it for accounts added through reseller account. This is a HIDDEN COST, and if it weren't for this, I would highly recommend Host Gator. "
